Summer is over and AMD lifted the curtain to update its FX CPU lineup yesterday. There are a couple of new parts there, plus new lower prices to entice enthusiasts to take a second look at its offerings.

Anand Lal Shimpi’s AnandTech has been there from the start – even since it was simply Anand’s Hardware Tech Page and there were other sites long gone now, like my old-time favourite Voodoo Extreme (RIP Billy “Wicked” Wilson). So it feels like an era is coming to a end now that Anand has announced his retirement from the site.

Seagate was obviously not content with releasing a 6TB disk a few months ago, so it just announced an 8TB model.

Intel is a powerhouse on desktop computing, but it still struggles in mobile, where ARM is the undisputed king. The company has taken several steps the past few years to compete in that arena, and its latest outing is getting near release.

For those of you not in the know, Sony sold the well-known VAIO brand to Japan Industrial Partners last February – now VAIO will be a brand on its own and will start producing its own PCs.
